The University of Dayton invites nominations and
applications for the Wright Brothers Institute
Endowed Chair in Ladar and Free Space Optical
Communications.
UD has established an Air Force Center of Excellence called the Ladar and Optical Communications Institute (LOCI). LOCI has an endowed chaired professor position open for a nationally recognized scholar to build and guide an interdisciplinary research program in LOCI research areas in collaboration with the Sensors Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL/RY) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The successful candidate will possess a doctorate in a science or engineering discipline and an established record of innovative, interdisciplinary ladar and free space optical communications research and extramural funding commensurate with appointment at the rank of Full Professor. The successful candidate will lead collaborative research, mentor a diverse population of students, and expand our academic ladar program. The Chair will forge partnerships with industry and other organizations, and advance the regional and national stature of the University and AFRL/RY in this field. Applicants with research experience/interest in any area of LOCI will also be considered.
The appointment will be in the School of Engineering with tenure in the Electro-Optics Program.
